Welcome Committee

The Welcome Committee was formed to foster an atmosphere of friendship and hospitality among St. Michael’s parishioners.  Jesus was always concerned with the needs and feelings of others and He calls us to do likewise.  Following in His footsteps, members are eager to serve Him through serving you.  They welcome new parishioners with a written greeting followed by a phone call; greet Mass participants on weekends and special liturgies; extend written congratulations to those receiving first sacraments; and host events to encourage building friendships and community among the members of our Parish family, such as monthly coffee and donuts after Mass, wine and cheese socials and refreshments after various events.  In 2006 they facilitated the Lenten Soup Suppers, the Parish Rededication Reception, and the Advent Wreath making project.  New members are appreciated and needed.  If you are interested, contact the Parish Office at 410-665-1054.

Evangelization Committee

Jesus calls each of us to be His disciples and share our faith with others.  In an effort to live up to this calling, video and small group sharing programs such as Alpha and Touching Jesus Through the Church have been offered.  Many participated and benefited from attending.  A video program entitled Sharing Christ is being considered for the future.  This exciting series is designed to equip every Catholic with the practical tools necessary to help us tell family, friends, and co-workers about Jesus Christ, draw others into a dynamic personal relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior, and invite them to become his disciples as members of the Church.

Holy Name Society

St. Michael’s Holy Name Society is part of a National Association that promotes respect for the most Holy Name of God, and the personal sanctification of its members by acts of love and devotion.  Members pledge to dedicate their manhood to the honor of the Sacred Name of Jesus Christ, and pray to be faithful to this pledge until death.  A Holy Name Mass is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month.  Meetings are the third Thursday of the month, September through June.  If you are interested, contact the Parish Office at 410-665-1054.

Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary

St. Michael’s Sodality is a religious body which aims at fostering in its members and the parish community an ardent devotion, reverence, and filial love towards the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Members gather and recite the rosary at the funeral home for deceased members.  They assist with various receptions which the parish sponsors for special occasions.  A Sodality Mass is offered on the first Sunday of the month.  Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  If you are interested, contact the Parish Office at 410-665-1054.

Knights of Columbus

Members of Cardinal Gibbons Council #2521 are involved in the community, supporting St. Michael’s, while enhancing their own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing family life.  They hold Annual Tootsie Roll drives for Special Children’s needs and host other fund-raiser events.  An annual membership drive is held at St. Michael’s.  If interested, call Michael Scally, the Knights of Columbus Parish Coordinator, at 410-444-1204.
