Collaborative Bodies
These groups serve as advisories bodies to the pastor and empower the various Commissions, subcommittees, and organizations in meeting the overall goal of forming a community of disciples. Pastoral Council Executive Committee Chair: Anne Eder Vice Chair: Bill Coffey Interim Secretary: Sue Misiora Membership Dennis Boland Bud Herb Greg Krasowski Edgar Martinez Marie Macek Ingrid Montufar Rose Ratajczak Sue Saumenig Carroll Pupa Amy Unverzagt Ex-Officio Members TBA, Christian Formation Commission Elaine Hughes, Community Life Commission Greg Dohmeier, Liturgical Commission Anna Sacha, Service Commission Curt Phillips, Stewardship Commission As the collaborative, discerning and consultative body, representing the whole community of St. Michael the Archangel Church, the purposes of this Pastoral Council shall be: (a) To share responsibility with the Pastor for the life, mission, and ministries of the parish; (b) To provide insight and prudent advice concerning the policies, procedures and programs which would assist in the implementation of the parish vision statement and parish pastoral plan; (c) To provide an open, honest and respectful forum of communication and dialogue regarding parish affairs among the pastor, associate pastors, permanent deacons, religious, parish staff, and laity; (d) To actively encourage by all available means the use of the gifts and talents of all parish members in the life and ministries of the parish; (e) To discern the needs and concerns of the parish as a whole and provide recommendations to the Pastor as to the manner in which they may best be addressed; (f) To continue to develop, maintain and review the vision statement of the Parish and to evaluate the manner in which it is being effectuated in the Parish; (g) To participate, through active cooperation in regional and archdiocesan collegial bodies and events, in the total life and mission of the Church of the Archdiocese of Baltimore; (h) To collaborate with other religious and civic groups in working for the common good of the broader Overlea community and surrounding neighborhoods. Finance Council The Finance Council is an advisory body whose primary purpose is the development and monitoring of all parish budgets as well as the allocation of parish investments. The Finance Council meets at least quarterly to review income and expenses. Members are appointed directly by the pastor and are professionals in the finance, accounting, budgeting, and related fields. Chair: Joseph Bourne
School Board The School Board is a consultative and collaborative body whose focus is to support and participate in forming the vision for St. Michael the Archangel School. The Board oversees the development and presentation of the annual school budget, participates in short- and long-term planning, and acts as ambassadors of the school community. Membership is composed of parishioners, community leaders, and members of the school community. Through a nomination process, members are appointed by the pastor with the consensus of the principal and School Board. Corporators Every parish, for legal purposes, forms a corporation. The legal title for our parish is St. Michael the Archangel, Overlea, Roman Catholic Congregation, Inc. The corporators meet at least annually to review the status of the parish in all areas and serve as another means of consultation and collaboration. Lay members are nominated by the pastor and appointed by the Archbishop of Baltimore.
